Will someone pick me up form the airport?
Schlitterbahn will make every attempt to pick you up from the airport as long as you have made prior arrangements. We will ONLY pick up from the San Antonio Airport (SAT) or from the bus station in New Braunfels. Students arriving at any other location will be responsible for their own transportation to Schlitterbahn.

What days and time will Schlitterbahn pick me up from the airport?
Schlitterbahn will provide transportation from both San Antonio International airport and the New Braunfels bus station from 0800-2200. Schlitterbahn will not provide transportation from the airport between the hours of 2230 and 0730. We prefer that you plan to arrive between Tuesday - Friday, but will make exceptions with prior approval.

What happens if I arrive late in the evening / early in the morning?
There are a number of taxi's available at the San Antonio Airport (SAT). Reservations are strongly advised. Please use this link for phone numbers of taxi services at San Antonio Airport. Expect to pay between $45-$60 USD for a one-way trip from San Antonio to New Braunfels.

If you arrive in New Braunfels between the hours of 2230 and 0730, you will need to arrange a hotel room for the night. Once the offices open at 0800, you can go to the park and meet with someone in Staff Services.

What do I do if I miss my flight, my flight is cancelled or delayed?
Please make every attempt to contact Cerise Black, the Staff Services Manager for Schlitterbahn as soon as possible. We will wait a maximum of one hour for students to arrive at the airport. You can email Cerise at international@schlitterbahn.com or call her at 00.1.830.708.7749.

What will happen after someone picks me up from the airport?
A Schlitterbahn employee will drive you to New Braunfels and your housing. The next day someone will pick you up and take you to Staff Services to fill out all of the new hire paperwork. After you finished, someone will drop you off at the grocery store for an hour to shop. Someone will pick you up from the store and take you back to your housing. Work typically begins 3-5 days after arrival, depending on the day of the week you arrive. All students must attend Schlitterbahn's orientation and a department orientation and training before beginning work. If you arrive when we are open weekends only, you cannot begin working/training until the following weekend.

Housing

Can I request a roommate?
Yes, Schlitterbahn cannot promise your request will be fulfilled. It it easier to accommodate these requests if you and your friends arrive together. If you arrive on separate dates, it is difficult to guarantee you will be in the same housing. Men and women will NOT be allowed to share onsite housing.

Can I live with my male/female friend?
Yes, but you will be required to live off-site (not on Schlitterbahn property). If you would like to stay with someone of the opposite sex, you must locate your own housing. Schlitterbahn can provide you with suggestions of where to look for an off-site property, but will not be able to drive you to different apartments during your search. PLEASE NOTE: once you sign a contract with any apartment complex or with Schlitterbahn you are obligated to fulfill your lease.

How much does it cost to live in Schlitterbahn provided housing?
Schlitterbahn will deduct $50 per week for the cost of your housing, water, electric, furniture, and household goods. You are responsible for purchasing your own food.

Is there a deposit for Schlitterbahn provided housing? How much?
Yes, there is a $50 deposit for onsite housing. It will be deducted from your first two paychecks.

Is the deposit refundable?
Yes, but only if you leave your dormitory and its' contents in a clean, undamaged condition. Deposits are not immediately available. If your dormitory is clean and contents are undamaged, a check will be mailed to you in your country for the $50.00 deposit. If your apartment is dirty or items are damaged, you may receive a partial refund of your deposit or no refund at all.

Is it cheaper to find my own housing?
Two-bedroom apartments typically rent for $650 to $800 per month, but that does not include the cost of electricity or water. Apartments you find on your own typically do not come with furniture, pots or pans, towels, etc. The deposit for apartments is typically one month's rent. You should expect to pay $650 - $800 up front, but you will receive your deposit back if you leave your apartment in good shape when you leave.

What does Schlitterbahn provide with their housing?
Each dormitory has a bathroom, living room, dining room/kitchen and 2 bedrooms. Each bedroom  has 4 beds, including linens, a closet, and at least one dresser. Each dormitory has one bathroom with a bathtub, shower, toilet and sink. Towels and shower curtains are provided. The kitchen has a sink, microwave, oven, stove, refrigerator and freezer. Schlitterbahn provides a coffee pot, pots and pans, plates, cups, bowls, eating and food preparation utensils. Housekeeping will come once a week on Saturday to give you fresh linens and towels, but will NOT clean the dormitory for you. You are responsible for cleaning your dormitory, which includes purchasing your own cleaning supplies. All dormitories have local phone service and cable. Some dormitories have a washer and dryer.

How close are the Schlitterbahn apartments to the waterpark? Can I walk or ride a bike?
The apartments are between 0.5 and 1.5 km from the waterpark. You can safely ride a bike or walk to work. Please remember that even when it is very hot or raining, you are still expected to come to work. You will need to bring or purchase rain gear so you can travel between your housing and work on rainy days.

What happens if something breaks in my dormitory or offsite apartments?
You pay rent each week, and therefore have the right to safe housing with working appliances. If at anytime you have a maintenance problem in your dormitory, let the resort office know right away by dialing "0" from your dormitory phone. If it is after hours and it is an emergency, you can call Cerise on her cell phone. It is your responsibility to notify Staff Services of any problems you are experiencing.

If you have a maintenance problem at your offsite apartment, you will need to contact them directly. You will be provided with this information when you sign your lease with the apartment complex.

Are there any rules for dormitory or offsite apartments?
It is important to remember that you are not only an ambassador for your country but you are also an ambassador for Schlitterbahn. Schlitterbahn asks that you respect the other residents living near you. Do not have loud parties late at night. Do not use curse words or foul language outdoors. Do not leave trash by your front door -- there are dumpsters at each housing location where you should place your trash. If you arrive or leave late at night or early in the morning, be respectful of your roommates and neighbors. Always keep your doors and windows locked. More details will be provided upon arrival and during your orientation.

Can I switch housing after I arrive?
Typically students cannot switch apartments once they have signed a contract. Schlitterbahn will only consider moving students in extreme circumstances. Please see Staff Services if you have any concerns.
