Five-Star Guest Amenities
Schlitterbahn is proud to
offer family amenities that include free parking and free inner
tubes. Guests are also welcome to bring a family picnic basket,
excluding alcohol and glass containers, into the parks.
Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark
features a variety of water attractions designed to appeal to
all family members, from toddlers to grandparents. The
centerpiece of the park is a highly themed, five-story Sand Castle
with six turrets connected by ramps, stairs and netclimbs.
Parents and children can explore the Sand Castle's dozens of
hands-on water features and then exit on one of four water slides.
The Sand Castle was named the Best New Kid’s Ride/Attraction by the
International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions.
Another central feature of the park is the nation’s largest
bodyboarding ride called the Boogie Bahn2 where guests try their
skills during the day and the Schlitterbahn Surf Team performs after
park hours. Guests can also enjoy Sea Trek, the world’s
premier underwater helmet diving experience. View the beauty of the
ocean without ever leaving the park. The park also features a wave
pool, five beaches, sand volleyball courts, plus a variety of ride
experiences on the Transportainment river system.
TRANSPORTAINMENT
[transportation + sport + entertainment = Transportainment®]
The park features the first
installation of the state-of-the-art, award-wining, Transportainment
river system that transports guests around the park on water.
The attraction is designed to combine the elements of
transportation, sport and entertainment, while minimizing the time
park guests spend standing in lines.
Called Rio Aventura, the river is
approximately a half-mile long. Guests enter Rio Aventura from
beaches scattered through the park, or they ride up into the river
from the wave pool level on the massive Aqua Veyer™.
Then they float through sections of slow-moving water and whitewater
rapids, detouring through two tube chutes and three Master Blaster
uphill water coasters, for a ride that is never the same twice.
The technology has earned the
industry’s highest innovation awards including: International
Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions [IAAPA] Best New
Waterpark Product; IAAPA Impact Award; World Waterpark Association
Industry Leadership & Innovation award; THEA Outstanding Achievement
Award from the Themed Entertainment Association.
Shrimp Haus™ Full-Service
Restaurant
The Shrimp Haus adjacent to
the waterpark is open year-round with beach-to-bay views. The
full-service, indoor/outdoor restaurant features a wide variety of
unique shrimp dishes, plus classics ranging from steaks to
cheesecake. During peak season, diners can stay after the park
closes and enjoy a free surfing exhibition. Families have a
front-row seat from terraces overlooking the park’s Boogie Bahn surf
machine.
Schlitterbahn Beach
is nestled between the dunes and wetlands on South Padre Island,
near the southernmost point of Texas. The site is .6 miles
south of the 2.5-mile-long Queen Isabella Causeway that connects
South Padre Island to the mainland of Texas. The waterpark is
located on the northern portion of Isla Blanca Park, which is owned
by Cameron County. It is accessible from Padre Boulevard and
via a footbridge from the beach.
The entire site is approximately 26
acres. The waterpark covers about 15 acres and there are
approximately seven acres of parking – all designed around nearly
four acres of protected wetlands.
