Michael R. Catcott Named Project Executive
for Schlitterbahn Vacation Village, Kansas City, KS

New Braunfels, Texas –  Schlitterbahn Waterparks recently named Michael R. Catcott project executive for the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village located in Kansas City, KS. In his new leadership role, Catcott is primarily responsible for all facets of the project’s strategic development including executive oversight of the entire operation after the project’s opening.

An industry veteran, Michael Catcott joins the Schlitterbahn team from PGAV Destination Design and Consulting in St. Louis, Missouri where he was a designer and business analyst focusing on domestic and international projects. Prior to that, Catcott worked for Anheuser-Busch Theme Parks where he served in a variety of positions including executive vice president and general manger of Sea World of Texas prior to being promoted as the corporate vice president of merchandise.

He has been involved in an array of industry associations including the Texas Travel Industry Association Council. Catcott received his Executive MBA degree from the University of Texas San Antonio – San Antonio, Texas. 

The Schlitterbahn Vacation Village is a $750 million year-round, trend-setting, retail entertainment destination comprised of multiple shopping, dining, lodging and entertainment venues connected by a Transportainment® River System.  In the Vacation Village, manmade rivers carry guests between lodging units and a world-class Water Resort along with a covered Riverwalk including shops and restaurants.

The Water Resort will be one of the world’s largest tubing parks with miles of interconnected rivers and signature attractions such as the Master Blaster® uphill water coaster and Torrent River®.  A Riverwalk with lush foliage and winding walkways will feature year-round destination shopping, dining and entertainment.  The Vacation Village will feature more than 1,100 lodging accommodations including a full-service hotel, waterfront cabins, and the unique Treehaus Resort with elevated pods – all integrated within waterpark attractions.

The first elements of the Vacation Village are scheduled to open in the summer of 2009 and will include the first phase of the Water Resort, several lodging components and the initial shops and restaurants to be developed along the projects themed Riverwalk.

Other parts of the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village will continue to be completed through the summer of 2011.
