Park Opens This Weekend!
New and improved waterpark opens indoor
area Saturday,
March 14 and joins other Galveston attractions and hotels in
welcoming spring break visitors
GALVESTON ISLAND, Texas
– After months of scrubbing, cleaning, enhancing and rebuilding,
Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark is ready to welcome spring
break visitors to the indoor waterpark area beginning Saturday,
March 14th.
“The park looks better than brand new, I’m really proud of what our
team accomplished over the past several months,” said Ron Sutula,
general manager of Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark. “Not
only will our guests notice an enhanced park experience, but this is
a perfect getaway location for a fun and safe spring break vacation
spot for the entire family. You don’t have to worry about what the
weather will be like while you are on break, our balmy indoor
weather and water are always in the 80’s.”
Visiting guests will be welcomed by a giant new tropically-themed
palapa which replaces the hurricane-ravished tent structure. Guests
will also enjoy additional new enhancements including a new sweet
shop, free Wi-Fi access, additional seating at the wave pool beach
and also the implementation of a new state-of-the-art
radio-frequency identification (RFID) wristband that allows guests
to make cashless transactions throughout the park.
Not only is Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark ready to
welcome visitors during spring break, but so are many of the
Island’s other top attractions and world-class hotels. “Spring
breakers will be excited to see the newly revitalized beaches along
the island,” explained Paul Schultz, president of the Galveston
Island Lodging Association and the vice president of operations for
Landry’s hotel division. “Many of the beaches have been extended and
are in great condition. Along with the beaches, Moody Gardens,
Rainforest Café, The San Luis Resort and countless other
accommodations and attractions are ready and eager to welcome
visitors to the island.”
“Moody Gardens is up and running and we are excited to hear that our
neighbor is ready to open the waterpark in time for spring break,”
expressed Mike Riley, Moody Gardens’ president. “The entire
Galveston community will benefit from Schlitterbahn’s opening and in
welcoming vacationing families back to the island.”
