Second Annual Amateur Bodyboarding Competition at Schlitterbahn Galveston
Island Waterpark this Saturday! GALVESTON ISLAND, Texas – Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark will hold its second annual Boogie Bahn Classic amateur bodyboarding competition on Saturday, August 18. The event is presented by Royal Caribbean and is part of the National Wavehouse Flow Tour, and is sponsored in part by Ohana Surf & Skate. On-site registration begins at 8 a.m. Riders of all ages are invited to compete on the park’s Flow Rider® continuous wave called the Boogie Bahn3. “Our amateur competition will give athletes an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and represent Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark at the championships,” said Ron Sutula, general manager of Schlitterbahn Galveston Island. “Our season pass holders and guests are among the best riders in the country and we expect that the competition will be exciting for riders and spectators alike.” The top two winners in each of six divisions –junior, drop knee, masters, pro, male and female—will qualify for the 2007 National Wavehouse Flow Tour Championships held in September. Each will also receive prize packages sponsored by Ohana Surf & Skate, the premiere retailer in the Houston area for enthusiasts. They will compete against winners of other regional competitions held throughout the United States this summer. People interested in entering the Boogie Bahn Classic presented by the Royal Caribbean Zero to Hero Surf Series can pick up an entry form at the Boogie Bahn attraction located in the Surfenburg area in the waterpark. There is a $30 per person entry fee. There is no additional charge for waterpark guests to watch the event.
