Position Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and smooth operation of Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark during the operating season and coordination of repairs, winterization and renovation projects during the non-operating season. This position is responsible for assisting in all administrative duties, including fiscal and budget related items, inspections, purchasing of supplies and equipment, maintenance, updates and improvements. This position is responsible for all daily operational and aquatic activities in the park.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Operations Team on an ongoing basis.
  • Direct the implementation of department policies and procedures, including the development and revision of appropriate training manuals and handbooks.
  • Ensure that the overall operation meets the company standards for service, safety, cleanliness, labor, and financial efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all Ellis and Associates standards and expectations as well as appropriate laws and industry standards.
  • Direct all aspects of the employment experience for Operations team members, to include hiring, training, motivating, retaining, developing, disciplining, promoting, and terminating.
  • Represent the company by demonstrating positive attitude and actions through the display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity, and professionalism towards patrons and employees
  • Assigned as duty manager, responsible for the overall operation of the Park with specific responsibilities including but not limited to full park inspection, cabana inspection, ride safety inspections, grounds quality, restrooms inspections, grate inspections, guest interactions and point person for guest compliments/complaints.
Position Qualifications:
  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferred
    • Three to five years of related experience and/or training
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  •  Skills & Abilities:
  • Use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines to effectively problem solve
  • Establish and maintain efficient working relationships
  • Be proficient with basic computer applications, like Microsoft Office Suite
  • ILTP Lifeguard or Instructor Certification
  • AFO/CPO Certification
  • Pass a background check
  • Must be able to pick up and carry 40 – 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, climb stairs, be mobile around facility for long periods of time and tolerate exposure to elements of nature including sun, rain, wind and heat.
