Galveston Indoor Closing Early to Make Way for 2020 Improvements

You asked for it – you got it. Schlitterbahn Galveston is getting a makeover for 2020. The operating season at the heated indoor waterpark is ending earlier than usual – we’re closing at the end of the day on Sunday, November 17th – so we can start work on some exciting projects designed with an enhanced guest experience in mind. Because we’re so eager to make 2020 better than ever for our guests, we grabbed the opportunity to get started early. While we’re not ready to reveal every detail, here are a few FAQs to whet your appetite for a fabulous 2020:
What are you upgrading?
- Attraction maintenance – our team is hard at work to make sure everyone’s favorite rides have maximum up-time.
- Food and beverage locations – we’re improving how our great food and Texas hospitality is designed and delivered to best serve our guests.
- Restroom renovations – hey, it may sound boring, but we all know there’s nothing more appealing than restroom updates.
- And the most EXCITING thing – The front entrance experience will be faster, more streamlined, prettier, and might even grant wishes (OK, we’re kidding about the wishes part, but it’s still going to be pretty amazing).
Why Now?
We’re upgrading now because the waterpark’s new owners, Cedar Fair Entertainment Company (NYSE: FUN), want to see Schlitterbahn Galveston be as great as it can be in time for the 2020 season.
When is the last day again?
The indoor waterpark will remain open through November 17, 2019. See the updated operating calendar.
When is the first day we can see these improvements?
The water park is slated to reopen again on February 29, 2020, revealing the upgrades throughout the park. Stay tuned to our blog since we’ll be posting construction updates as we move through the rest of 2019 and into 2020.
Anything else I need to know?
Oh yes, how could I forget? This is HUGE – 2020 is the first year season passes will include unlimited admissions for spring break week. It was already a terrific value, and now – it’s even better.
