What to Know About Wurstfest

Wurstfest is that special time of year when all of us here in New Braunfels embrace our German Heritage and pull out our dirndls and lederhosen for the 10-day salute to the sausage! This year Wurstfest runs November 3 through November 12. You can pretty much ask any local and they’ll tell you it’s their favorite Fall event by far.

Here are some tips and tricks on how to tackle the Wurstfest Festival and a list of all the things you need to know before going to Wurstfest.

Prost! Prost! Prost!

  • Buy your admission tickets in advance at Wurstfest.com. Admission prices range from $18.00 to $22.50 depending on the day you choose to attend.
  • Take advantage of FREE Wurstfest Admission Days: Monday, November 6, 5-10pm; Tuesday, November 7, 5-10pm; Wednesday, November 8, 5-10pm: Thursday, November 9, 5-10pm.
  • Cash only y’all. Admission, food, and drink tickets can only be purchased with cash. ATM machines are on-site with a service fee. You may use a credit card to buy admission and food and drink tickets online at Wurstfest.com (service fees apply).
  • There are three different music stages at Wurstfest playing a variety of polka music throughout the night. One of the many "must see" performances is the Alex Meixner Band, where polka meets rock.
  • Did you know there are carnival rides in two separate areas for tweens and younger kiddos to enjoy? Note: this does cost extra. You’ll need to buy tickets for each ride. The best bang for your buck is to buy the “All You Can Ride Pass.” That way your kids can ride over and over again without you having to worry about buying more tickets, and you can kick back with a brew.
  • Parking…it can be challenging. There isn’t much parking to be had close to Wursftest. Chances are you’ll have to park far away and walk a ways to get to the festival.
  • With so many food options it can be hard to know what you absolutely should not miss. You would be sad if you went to Wurstfest and didn’t get the Wurstentachen, pizza-sized pretzels, or potato pancakes. Don’t have any regrets!!!  Hint: this is why going more than one night is helpful. Your stomach can’t handle all the deliciousness that there is to take in for just one night. One night is not enough.
  • Have a meeting spot in case you get separated from your friends. Wurstfest is popular and loud, and it is not always easy to get cell service. The best spot to meet is in front of the Wurstentachen booth! There’s plenty of open space and it’s easy to get to from all areas of the festival.
  • For the very best Wurstfest experience, stay at the Resort at Schlitterbahn and celebrate Wurstfest with us! The Resort at Schlitterbahn is right around the corner. Pro-tip: Book the Wurstfest Value Package, which includes FREE shuttle service to and from the event, admission tickets to Wurstfest for every registered guest to the room, and 40 Wurstfest drink tickets..
