Schlitterbahn New Braunfels East vs. West Explained

Schlitterbahn New Braunfels is the biggest of the five Schlitterbahn Parks, coming in at about 64 acres, two parks, and four sections. Yes, that’s right. Two parks in one. Schlitterbahn New Braunfels has two different parks, East and West separated by a couple of small roads and turns. For those new to Schlitterbahn, planning your first visit, or waterpark enthusiast who just like learning interesting facts, this blog is for you. With some stellar information and helpful tips, you’ll be set to make the most of your trip to Schlitterbahn without missing a thing.
1. The Basics. Schlitterbahn New Braunfels was opened in 1979 with just the West Park. Each year the Henry family continued to invest in the growing waterpark and resort until Schlitterbahn East was born in 1991. East and West both have distinct styles and rides that you won’t want to miss out on either.
2. West. First, we’re going to dive into the logistics of West Park. You might also hear our avid patrons refer to Schlitterbahn West as Main or the original Schlitterbahn. Schlitterbahn West is the park with the iconic Schlitterbahn Castle in full view as you pull up. Some rides that are exclusive to Schlitterbahn West include White Water Tube Chute, The Congo, Cliff Hanger, and the Raging River. West is a great place to spend in the middle of the day when the Texas heat is at its highest because of all the trees and shaded areas. Some of the rides' queue lines are blessed with these natural sun deflectors and keep you cooler while waiting to get splashed!
3. Tramsportation. You might be wondering how you get from one park to the other. The trams! The one ride in the park that you don’t get soaked on. The tram location when heading from West to East is outside of the main gift shop and to the left past the admissions booths. You will see a rope line and tour guide. The tram will take you to and from Schlitterbahn east as many times you want during the day! Just a reminder lockers are nontransferable between parks, so before you hop on for the next park double-check you’ve grabbed the essentials.
Pro tip: Set up a home base with towels sunscreen etc. And leave items that shouldn’t get wet/ you won’t need throughout the day behind in a locker location close to your exit.
4. East. Schlitterbahn East is different from West in that it actually has three separate sections inside the one park. The first of the three to join the family was Surfenburg home to the Boogie Bahn and Dragons Revenge. The next section of Schlitterbahn East was Blastenhoff where the Torrent River and Blast Tower are located. Blast tower has three high thrill slides, Master Blaster, Wolf Pack, and Black Knight. The last edition to Schlitterbahn East was Tubenbach and this is home to the world’s longest tubing adventure ride, The Falls. The Falls is a great ride because unless it’s a busy Saturday this ride is a no wait/no line attraction! The lines here can reach intense lengths in the middle of the day, so the best time to catch a ride on the master blaster is at the beginning of your day at Schlitterbahn.
Pro tip: In the middle of the Summer Schlitterbahn New Braunfels can get packed making it hard to enjoy everything the two parks have to offer. If you find at the end of your day you haven’t been able to get to everything, you can upgrade to a two-day pass. The second-day ticket is almost half off of a general admission ticket and doesn’t have to be used consecutively! This means you could come a day in June to purchase a second-day ticket and use it any time during the rest of the season. Just save your receipt and take your wrist band to an admission booth to pay the difference!
